If you cannot add the widget

If you cannot find the minical widget in the widget list and cannot add it, try the following steps, then open the widget list again to see if the issue is resolved:

  • Launch the minical app once
  • Restart your device
  • Offload the app once
    1. Open the Settings app
    2. Tap "General"
    3. Tap "iPhone Storage"
    4. Tap "minical"
    5. Tap "Offload App"
    6. Tap "Reinstall App"
    7. Return to the Home Screen and open minical
  • Update to the latest iOS (instructions)

You can use the widget feature without upgrading to minical pro.

If the widget is not updating (nothing is displayed, the date is incorrect)

Due to iOS (iPadOS) restrictions or bugs, the widget may not update immediately. This issue is not exclusive to minical; it may also occur with other calendar apps, so we appreciate your understanding.

Try one of the following steps, which may resolve the issue:

  • Restart your device and wait a little while
  • Launch the minical app once, return to the Home Screen, and wait a short period
  • Turn off Low Power Mode
    • Settings app > Battery > Low Power Mode
  • If you have many events displayed, reduce the number of visible calendars

Editing Home Screen widgets (change widget settings)

You can change Home Screen widget settings from Edit Widget in iOS.

  1. Touch and hold the widget on the Home Screen
  2. Tap "Edit Widget"
  3. Change the displayed settings

Editing Lock Screen widgets (change widget settings)

You can change Lock Screen widget settings from Customize on the Lock Screen.

  1. Touch and hold the Lock Screen
  2. Tap "Customize"
  3. Tap the widget area
  4. Tap the existing minical widget
  5. Change the displayed settings

The available settings vary by widget type.

Changing the widget’s background color

By default, minical automatically changes the background color according to your device’s appearance mode settings. You can set a color theme using the following steps:

  1. Open the minical app
  2. Tap the Settings in the top-right corner
  3. Tap "Appearance"
  4. Tap "Color Theme"
  5. Change the color theme

It is not possible to display an image as the background. It is not possible to change the background color freely, such as making it transparent.

Changing the widget’s text size

Depending on the widget type, the widget’s text size may be linked to the app’s text size settings. For more details, see the Appearance settings guide.
